Award Winning Author Richard Muniz (AKA William Ablan) hails from the small town of La Jara, Colorado. He was raised a cowboy, but spent his early life as a Law Enforcement officer. He’s also a combat veteran, having served with the U.S. Army as a military policeman during the Gulf War.
Richard brings his years of experience to all his novels. The results are Police Procedural Mysteries from someone who’s been there, done that, got the T-Shirt, and bled the blood. His books are hailed for their gritty realism, dialogue, and resilience of the people involved.
It’s this that helped make him 2025 American Legion National Writing Competition second place winner. He’s received numerous awards for regional competitions as well.
Some of his shorts have been published in the Conejos County Citizen, The Valley Courier, and Greeley Tribune.
Rich currently lives in Greeley, Colorado with his wife Julie, and their dog Fancy (AKA – The Princess of 42nd Ave. Yep, she’s spoiled rotten).
When not writing, he spends most of his time reading, doing home improvement projects, and working with his Church. His best time is spent with his gorgeous wife, Julie.

Thanks. I’ve always been interested in writing. Got a blog out there called “It came from the File Cabinet” that talks about some of the stuff I did in my teens. But it wasn’t until about eight years ago that I actually decided to give it a try.
