I had to think of this one a little, and maybe this doesn’t even qualify, but, here goes.
Years ago, when my oldest daughter got married, my wife purchased and gave her a ring. it was a one of kind, handmade by an artisan in New Mexico. My daughter loved that ring and knew ever nick, scratch and imperfection in it.
Well, they purchased a trailer house and parked it out between Blanca and Alamosa. Now this is far from anywhere I’d call home. it was the middle of nowhere. We had to have a well put in, septic, and power. It was spartan conditions out there in a lot of ways.
Well, one weekend, they came for a visit. When they came home, they discovered the house had been broken into and a lot of valuables, to include the ring, were gone. stolen with no hope of ever seeing them again.
Flash forward almost thirty years.
My daughter is looking through Etsy and guess what she sees. Her ring. The imagery shows the scratches, imperfections and so on, exactly where she knew them. it weas being sold by an antique jewelry store in Idaho which is well over six hundred miles from where it was stolen
A few emails and a credit card later, the ring is back on her hand where it belongs.
Too bad the ring can’t talk. I’d love to know it’s story.
