Daily writing prompt
If you could relive one year of your life, which one would it be?

Frankly, it’s kind of a stupid question.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. There were years when everything clicked. The jobs fell in line. Money flowed freely. Everyone was healthy and happy.

And then there were years when we held our breaths and wondered what horrible thing was going to happen next. People were sick. Money was tight. And we were either working jobs we didn’t want to work, or worse we were standing in the unemployment line.

Now while it makes sense to gravitate to the good times, I have to keep in mind one thing.

I worked very hard to get to this old.

Don’t believe me?

As I understand things, a fair number of my high school graduating class is now dead.

Smart money was, that courtesy of my former professions, smart money said I’d be among the first to die.

Over fifty years has passed since we graduated and I’m still here. I’m happy with who I am.

We are all the sum of the good times and the bad times.

We are who we are because we survived.
