I’m probably the only kid in my school who lived in the Library.
While everyone else was out playing on swings, I was prowling the stack of books.

I read Mark Twain. I devoured biographies about famous people (the Wright Brother, Florence Nightingale, Abe Lincoln to name a few).
And then I found our science section.
And I found a one single book I can be sure that I read cover to cover and then started it over again, then that would be The Conquest of Space by Willy Ley and illustrated by the incredible Chesley Bonestell.
The vision of space stations, ships to the Moon and Mars fired my imagination. Boy was it a vision! It made me think space could become a place I might go.
Of course, I doubt very much I’ll ever go there. Not unless Elon or Jeff is willing to give me a seat on one of their ships.
The book in incredibly dated today, but I still wish I had it on my shelf (a used copy runs over $100.00). It might be worth it. It presented a vision of the incredible, and once that is coming to pass.
