When I was in the military, I used to joke “A change of socks and underwear and I’m good for a month in Afghanistan.”
That wasn’t too far from being untrue.
I could pretty much pack everything I owned in a ruck sack, a clothing bag, a duffle, and two or three boxes that could be shipped around the world.
Packing and moving on was easy.

Won’t even ask how often you got a chance to change in Afghanistan.

To think of it yes, socks and underwear should cut it. And for the times all the undies are in the wash, commando works too for the night until the morning sunshine dries it all up

Yes, Richard, while out from the base, clothing is the least concern. I know when on foot, away from the APCs, we were required to carry claymores with det chord, wiring and clackers, grenades, ammunition, flares and signal rockets, and some C-rations and canteens.
