Just about everything.
Now granted. There’s some topics I steer away from such as politics.
But pretty much everything else is fair game.
One of my personal favs is Intelligent Life in the Universe. and of course that turns to UFOs, SETI, and so on.
Now, I come from the San Luis Valley in Colorado, a region that has a lively history of UFOs.
Almost everyone I know has seen one.
Everyone except me.
I’ve spent years outdoors. When I was younger, if the stars were visible, I was outside, often times for hours on end. As an adult, and as a police officer, I always liked to work night shift. I’d swap it out with officers just so my body had a chance to adapt to a certain time when I’m awake or asleep.
And still, nothing.
Yet, here’s people seeing thing in the sky. All I can say is I must have been looking in the other direction when fleets of alien spaceships promenaded across the heavens.
But there are stories.
One handed down by my father occurred when he was a boy. They lived not far from the highway between La Jara and Capulin, and one morning, he, his brother, and sister were walking out to the road to catch the school bus.
That’s when they heard a buzzing sound coming from far away but starting to get closer. He says they saw nothing. But his mother did.
According to the story handed down, she looked in the direction of the sound and saw a ball like, transparent, pulsating object approaching. It was low and it ran into the trees that bordered the road. Dad said large branches fell down from the trees and the buzzing stopped.
Years later, he showed me where the branches had fallen. It was almost thirty years after the incident and the branches had long since been picked und cut into firewood. That didn’t stop me from looking around. Of course, I found exactly what I expected which was nothing,
I think part of my problem is you have to show me the evidence. So, sightings, testimony, even pictures aren’t enough. I was raised to believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see. With AI imagery today, the last part now hovers close to ninety percent.
I need more proof.
But that doesn’t stop me from speculating about it and talking it over with friends. And you can scream coverup, or this or that, but that doesn’t prove anything. All it proves is I need the evidence.
If I can’t drag it into court, I’m skeptical. I guess it still boils down to “In God I trust. Everyone else gets investigated!”
My personal thinking is there is intelligence in the universe.
But someplace beyond the orbit of Pluto there’s a sign. The sign reads, “Do not go past the orbit of this world. There’s dangerous animals ahead and they will eat you.” And since they aren’t stupid like humans who lean over and fall into the lion pit at the zoo, or get out and take pictures with grizzly bears in Yellowstone, they leave us alone.
So, have we been contacted by extraterrestrial intelligence?
There’s a problem with the question. It makes an assumption that we’re intelligent enough to contact.
And if you don’t believe me, watch the news and ask yourself one question.
Would you want to talk to us?
