Oddly, it’s something we use everyday and consider a cornerstone in our world.
What is it?
Social media!
Why?
Well, at it’s best, people use it to share. We share recipes. We share concerns. We share ideas. We share cat videos. Adn it’s best, it can make the human race into one big, happy, chatting family.
So far so good.
Now, why would I un-invent it?
Because too many people hide behind it. They use it as a platform to attack others. They hide behind their onscreen avatars and say things to other people. Hateful things. Things that if you were to say it to them in person and in bar, would probably get your nose broke.
As a result, we have online bullying. People actually worry about what others think of them. And as a result, we have more mental problems than ever before. We have teen suicide at astonishing rates. We have people who think they can say anything they want and not have any accountability.
On second thought, maybe it’s not social media that needs uninventing.
Maybe we simply need to reinvent themselves.

Social media is such a godsend for us mostly-homebound folks, but I sure get what you say.
