Writing happens in my office.
I have to admit, it’s a little full. I’ve a massive desk and credenza in one corner. Scattered about are several bookshelves, file cabinets, a coffee bar, and an additional chair. Pictures hang on the wall. A telescope sits in one corner. A display of US. Army MP helmets line one wall. Up high are two shelves with everything from books to beer steins, to sailing ships, and antiques.
Behind my desk is my “Dig-me” wall with awards from different writing competitions.
Most of the time, it’s a disaster area. Magazines wait to be filed away, and books placed on the shelf. There are notebooks and mail. Invariably, there’s a topographic map folded and waiting to be put away. It’s always being cleaned (at least twice a week and then it’s instant mess again – Just add writer).
It’s the only place I seem to be able to write.
I’ve tried the living room with the laptop on my lap. TV always distracts me.
Kitchen isn’t much better.
As for reading?
I use the bathroom like the rest of the world.

I’d like to see the walls in your office!

I’m afraid you’d say the next time I clean up the place, start with a gallon of gasoline followed by a match. It’s pretty bad!

Michael J. Fox: “A creative mess is better than idle tidiness.”
Creative people don’t have a mess, they have ideas lying around everywhere.”
I’m sticking to this since mine is also a mess!

Well, in that case. I might just take pictures one fine day and post them.
