Leave it to American cowboy Gene Autry to put words to get me back up and going.
With the publication of My Brother’s Keeper, I kind-of, sort-of took a little time off. So, I stopped the breakneck blogging I’ve been doing for the last few years, but I wasn’t sitting on my hands during the time. The Bible has a few choice words concerning that. Proverbs 24:33-34 says, “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.”
So, I’ve been busy.
1: I’m still looking for gainful employment. That by itself is a full-time job. So, if you know anyone who’s looking for the Uber-Systems Administrator, send them my way. I did have a couple of interviews with a local MSP and then nothing. I’m still averaging four to five applications a day. After a while you start wondering how many of these things on Linkedin, Dice, ZipRecruiter, and etc. are real.
2: I put in for unemployment. Haven’t done that in almost twenty-five years and the process has changed. It’s just a little intimidating.

3: I pulled out the very first novel I wrote in the Will Diaz series, The Cross and the Badge, and I gave it the ProWriting treatment looked for misspells, grammar issues, and so on. I don’t know how much time my wife and I spent pouring over it and ProWritingAid still came up with almost four thousand things to look at. Granted, a fair portion were false positives, BUT a lot weren’t. So, I got that cleaned up. I’ll be positing the cleaned up manuscript and in the next day or two. When the cleaned up version goes live, it will sport a new cover and a notification that I’m an Award Winning Author.
There is a real, live Cross on the hill in Conejos County. I climbed up to it once shortly before I left for basic Training. it was wintertime. I’d rather chance the ice and snow than a rattlesnake. I’ll be telling that story soon.
Next, I’ll do Life on Mars. it will also receive a new cover.
4: Worked on the old website. Added a page and information for My Brother’s Keeper onto the site.
Add to the list all the little things that need to be done and so I’m keeping busy.
