One of my favorite George Carlin routines starts with his saying, “There’s a moment coming. Wait for it,. Wait for it. Wait for it. Shoot, it just passed.”
The routine illustrates what some wise guy said about time. He said God invented time to keep everything from happening all at once. If true, then Carlin’s routine wouldn’t mean anything if time hadn’t been invented.
So, the question on the writing prompt was do I need time.
Well, that depends on how you look at things. We all know we live in three dimensions. We have length, breadth, and width. In short, you’re not a line, and you’re not flat.
But there’s another dimension we move through which many call the fourth dimension. That dimension is Time. We usually don’t think much about it because we can’t see it.
Take away that one dimension we can’t see, and would you exist at all?
Now if asked do I need “More Time,” then that’s a different answer.
I need more time to spend with the love of my life.
I need more time to write, edit, and market.
And I need more time to get more sleep.
I always say I’ll get all the sleep I need when I’m dead. But if the Universe really runs the way I think it does, the resurrection will happen exactly five minutes after I’m declared dead and I’ll find myself in the unique position of looking for snooze button on Eternity.
