A week or so ago, I talked about doing a book promo for Event Horizon.
I have to admit, it was ambitious. It also reflected someone who needed to learn something about how they’re made. Now what I wrote was fine for when I was doing TV production back in college. But I had equipment and a staff to help.
We had cameras. Editing equipment. People.
I had a camera, editing software, and me, myself, and I to shoot it.
Okay. I’ve not Steven Spielberg.
So, I got online and did some studying.
Then I looked at what others had done.
Some were incredible to include CGI work that would have rivaled anything in Lord of the Rings or a Marvel movie.
Others were just some guy on camera, in a t-shirt who hadn’t shaved and with a cluttered background holding up his book and talking about it.
Both turned me off. One razzle-dazzled me. The other underwhelmed me.
So, I took a mid-approach. I created my video in of all things, PowerPoint. I recorded it and then ran it through MS Movie Maker. I took a less is more approach to produce this.
So, for your amusement, edification, delight, may if present to you Event Horizon, The Book Promo. Just click on the picture below.
