My wife and I play a lot of Gin. We love it. it’s a great way just to sit, talk, and have fun. I hate to say it, but Julie almost always wins.
Same goes for Poker. She has to be the luckiest person in the world and gets the most impressive hands.
Now, if I could just get her to walk into the 7-11 and buy a lottery ticket!
We also play a lot of Scrabble. And guess how usually wins there as well. Clue. It’s not me. As a novelist, you would think I would have this amazing command of words. That maybe because I’m a writer, I would know words no one has ever heard of.
Not true. As a novelist, it’s job one to make sure the reader can follow what you’re saying. Dazzling them with big words does the opposite.
Julie, on the other hand, knows words I’ve never heard of. I’m sure that’s because she worked for a bunch of Lawyers. About the only hope I have against that superpower is that the words are in Latin and NOT in the dictionary. Sadly, the dictionary we have is thicker than two Bibles put together so the words are in there.
On my own, I enjoy playing online Battleship, Tetris, and puzzles. I almost always end up falling asleep playing them.

Oh, an unabridged dictionary! I’m trying to discover how to “downsize” that one we’ve had for decades.

Playing games with your wife is true fun, even if you lose. Having an unabridged dictionary is a benefit, in my opinion.
