Retirement?
Oh, that’s what other people do.
This old Calvin and Hobb’s cartoon pretty well sums it up for me:

I’ve got to many worlds to conquer.
I’m not a loaf of bread and I come with no expiration date.
I’m not ready to clear the shelf.
Artwork by Bill Waterson. And so’s the quote!
If you’re a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one, connect with our caring, qualified Veterans Crisis Line responders for confidential help. Many of them are Veterans themselves. This service is private, free, and available 24/7.
Here’s how you can connect with a Veterans Crisis Line responder, anytime day or night:
- Call 988 and select 1.
- Text 838255.
- Start a confidential chat.
- If you have hearing loss, call TTY: 800-799-4889.
If you’re not a veteran or wish you can also take these actions:
- Call 911.
- Go to the nearest emergency room.
- Go directly to your nearest VA medical center. It doesn’t matter what your discharge status is or if you’re enrolled in VA health care. if not a veteran, go to your nearest hospital.

I’m retired five years now, I guess and still fighting it. Guess I should just look at it as shifting gears. Am I now in overdrive or granny? Before you ask, reverse is not one of the possibles.

Reverse would be nice, assuming I could go back to 25 with what I know now. Hmmm, sounds like there’s a story in there someplace.

I’m betting so, too.

I retired from GM just before they filed for bankruptcy. CEO Rick Wagner was pushing for many employees to retire. For years I was busy writing and doing a lot of house improvements.
