If you’re talking clothing, then it’s this awful, camo T-shirt, I’ve had it for years. It’s starting to get threadbare, faded and there’s a whole wearing where the pocket is sewn to the actual shirt. It’s probably a few more wears away from becoming a cleaning rag.
Now, if you’re talking a personal item, then that’s my wedding band.
My beautiful bride bought it at Decker’s Jewelry in Monte Vista. I don’t think Mr. Decker is with us any longer. He and his wife ran a nice shop and were awesome people.
The ring cost probably more than she could afford when she bought it.
It’s a gold nugget ring and she had three diamonds placed on it. The diamonds came from her old wedding ring from her first marriage.
The diamonds can represent two different things according to her.
First is the reminder of what it takes to make a marriage work. That’s walking close with The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
And the second is a constant reminder of her favorite words to me. “I love you.”
Except for cleaning it, checking the diamonds, or when I’m working with power tools, it never leaves my hand.

To me, that’s a fancy wedding band.
