Does losing my ex-wife count?
No seriously.
The question becomes is why did God create woman? In Genisis we read God made woman to be a help mate for the man. Translation. Adam went out and started messing up right away, and God said, the Boy needs help!
Adam needed a cheerleader, someone to push him,. To encourage him, to make him, well, to make him into a man. I suppose he was a bit of a little boy.
By the same token, there’s women out there who are in reality girls. They don’t understand that their husbands need that push, and if not the push, at least the support.
Want an example.
Two women.
One is my ex.
The other is my wife, Julie.
Flash back to 1987. I’m getting ready to submit my packet to go to OCS. I’ve got the whole thing together. My ex and I have talked about it and since I wanted to make the Army a career, we decided becoming an officer is the place to be. Money is better. Housing is better. Opportunities are better.
And all of a sudden, she comes out of left field and says. “No. I will not be married to a god damn officer.”
Excuse me!
And if I persisted and put in my packet, I could just kiss her goodbye.
Had I known what was coming down the pike, I would have gone ahead and put it in anyway. I would have had my commission at least.
Flash forward to 1992. I meet this incredible woman who has this incredible idea. You can do anything you want, she tells me. Why are you settling?
I’ll be honest here.
If it hadn’t been for Julie I’d never own my own home.
I’d never have strived for the careers I’ve had.
I’d never have written 5 books and been working on two more.
I’d have stayed a boy and not a become a man.
I’d never have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
And had I been married to Julie when I was in the Army, not only would I have gone to OCS, I’d be a freaking twenty-four-star general by now.
And then people wonder why I treat her like a queen.
It’s pretty simple.
I know who has my back and loves me.
