What job would you do for free?

I’I’m a huge fan of Expedition Unknown. Josh goes everywhere and does everything. I mean honestly! How many people have flown in the backseat of an old P-51 trainer? How many people have dived on sunken treasure ships, or gone into caves and bunkers unlocking secrets of the past?

Some of my personal favorites of his adventures are:

The Secret Solved- I remember seeing the book in the Rio Grande Bookstore way back in the early 80s. It looked good, but it also looked a little more like a Sword and Sorcery novel, which I wasn’t all that much into. For those of you who have never heard of it, The Secret is a real-life treasure hunt. Buried across the United States are twelve casks, each containing a ceramic holder and a key. The book has illustrations and riddles that work together. Solve the clues, unravel the riddle, and you might find the treasure. Find the treasure and send in the key, and you’ll get a valuable gem. To date, three of the twelve casks have been found, and the author’s estate honors the hunt still.

Great Women of Ancient Egypt – this is a two-part episode, and Josh checks out three women of ancient Egypt. Two names you may have heard of, and one you haven’t. In some cases, attempts were made to erase them from history. It’s an incredible journey and ends with the identification of a mummy that is the legendary Nefertiti and a hunt for Cleopatra’s lost tomb.

The Real Goonies Treasure – What can I say. I loved the movie and, like most good stories, there’s a kernel of truth to it.

I know many people have said some of it is staged, but I don’t care. The show is about learning history and looking a mysteries in a fun setting. And in that, it works beautifully.

If I were a billion years younger, I’d apply for his job. As long as I could drag my wife and our puppy along on the adventures, hell yes, I’d do it for free.

And, oh, I’d want his hat.
