Daily writing prompt
What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

Seeing this prompt, I’m reminded of an old Monty Python sound skit that asks the question of “What famous person is this getting up in the morning.” You’re then treated to the sounds of someone getting out of bed, going to the bathroom, cleaning up, drinking coffee and leaving the house. If I remember the punchline, it’s supposed to be a famous Italian movie director.

Of course, I won’t do that to you.

Morning is easy. I get out of bed, look at the clock and go, who invented 5 AM?

Then I go downstairs, and make myself my first of many cups of coffee I’ll drink during the day. Just so you know, coffee is about the only vice I have these days. indeed, if I could get it in an IV solution, I’d probably take it.

I then pull out my Bible and spend the next half hour or forty-five minutes with God. The time is valuable. To say I have a structured plan of reading the Bible would be a lie. I surf it. I open it and wherever it opens to is where I read. There is a small drawback with this idea. I tend to spend a lot of time in Psalms, Proverbs, Job, and books of the Old Testament. So, after that, it get’s a little mroe structured. I’ll turn to the New Testament and start reading a book start to finish.

That takes about fifteen twenty minutes.

Then I elan back, close my eyes and just pray. sometimes it’s just shutting up and listening to what gets whispered in my ears,

At the end of that, I make my wife’s first cup and my second and go upstairs. The next roughly hour is spent with her and the puppy.

Then it’s time to get busy!
