I never thought I’d be a hat person.
As I kid, I avoided them.
As a teenager, I despised them.
As a police officer I looked at them as one more thing to lose.
And as a soldier, I loathed them beyond a helmet that would keep my brain intact.
Now as a senior citizen with a dome that reflects so much light that it hurts people’s eyes, I’m all over the baseball cap.
But not just any baseball cap. I have no caps with team logo’s on them. None with corporate logo’s. and only one that states I’m “The Worlds Greatest Dad.”
The majority of my hats identify me as a Former Military Policeman, Gulf War Vet, or U.S. Army. I’ wear those everywhere.
I also like hoodies. Again, no team or corporate logos, but hoodies that ID me as a former member of our Army or as a Military Policeman.
What can I say. Military service is something that’s worth bragging about.

Unlike some of our officials (including one who allegedly served), I am guessing that you are familiar with UCMJ contents (Universal Code of Military Justice).

Oh, yeah! I used to be able to recite it in much the same way Dan Akroyd did in Dragnet. Only when I did it, it wasn’t as funny.
