Truth be told, there’s a lot of things I’m proud of.
But if I were to point at one thing, it’s being a husband to my beautiful bride, Julie. It’s about sharing life with this amazing creature who sees thing differently. Who makes me want to be something bigger than I am. I want to be her hero.
Now, for a true confession.
Being a good husband was something I had to learn. I grew up ill equipped to be one. Oh, I understood the concept of working to support my wife, but there’s so much more than that to being a husband (and a man for that matter).
I had to learn what Paul meant when he wrote the words in Ephesians 5:25 “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.”
In learning to be a good husband, I also learned what love is all about. Love is not about me. It’s about her.
And a delightful fringe benefit of that is I learned to love the rest of humanity and to show it teh respect it deserves.
Now, I’m a long ways from being perfect. It’s a daily process.

Yes, Rich, being a husband can be a learning experience. I do the best I can.
