That’s a bad question to ask me. You see, Julie and I are creatures of habit. When we sit down to watch TV, we go to Hulu. All our favorites are right there.
We start with the Golden Girls. While I think it’s hysterical, I usually pull out my laptop and play some Tetris to relax. There. That disclaimer should keep the man-card safe.
One thing I like about the Girls is the ability to pull a MASH moment. This is where something is going on, it’s funny, and then it turns on a dime and is deadly serious. One of my favorite episodes is where Sophia meets an older man on the boardwalk. They become friends but not too far into the episode we realize somethings wrong here. He has dementia and there’s days he barely knows who he is, much less anyone else. The first time I saw it; it left me in tears.
I know, so much for being the tough cop.
Then we go to MASH. We’re both huge fans. Favorite episodes there include “Sometimes you hear the bullet,” “Welcome to Korea,” and “Lifetime.” MASH of course can have you laughing one second, crying the next. One thing I like is the character development. Everyone came out of it changed in some way.
After we’ve had our fill of MASH, it’s over Frasier and we say “hi” the Crane boys. While the show is funny, it can also be serious at times. Again, it’s about the character development. Of course, anything that can go wrong, will for them. Usually, it’s at their own hand. Favorite episodes. “The Guilt Trippers.”
Then we close out the evening with Reba. Like the above, it’s about character development. One of my favorites here is “Terry Holliway.”
Except for Happy’s Place, we don’t watch much current TV. Some exception to that is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the reboot of Frasier. Sadly, I need some special equipment to watch Paramount+ and it isn’t compatible with my sound system. And I’m not going to toss something in the dump just because it old. So, I’m getting those series on DVD.
Other than that, there’s a lot of Food Network, HGTV, and DIY.
Movies are a little less frequent.
One of our personal favorites, Twister. We like it because we’ve done our share of storm chasing, but we’ll watch that again and again.
Dave, with Kevin Kline is another.
Any of the Jurassic Park movies.
And if there’s an airplane in it, I’m watching it. Films like Iron Eagle, the Top Gun movies, Spirit of St. Louis. Hey! I’ve worn out whole DVDs on those.
Now two really guilty pleasures. Zack Snyder’s Justice League (love it). And of Course: Battle: Los Angeles.

How do you find time for TV after working full time and writing great books?

Part of that is working at night when I’m doing the IT equivalent of watching paint dry.

Many people have favorite shows they watch again and again.

I don’t have streaming capabilities, so yes, it’s back to the reruns.
