Daily writing prompt
What cities do you want to visit?

My beautiful wife and I have often talked about this, and truth be told, I’m not crazy about cities.

But there is one place I hope to take her to, a place I’ve already been to and a place I called home for almost three years. See, most Military types say they were station someplace. They go, they might go to the clubs. They might go to other cities.

Where I enjoyed one of the finest concerts I’ve ever heard

When people say, “Oh, you were stationed at Ansbach, Germany!” I correct them and say, “No. I lived there.”

When I arrived, I wanted to learn something about the country. I wanted to experience it. I met people, spoke with them, and made friends in town. I walked the streets, wondering at the history. While others went to clubs, I was going places and enjoying it.

But it’s no fun alone. I’ve spoken often with my wife about the place and I would love to take her there. I’d love to take her to the cathedrial where I sat in pew, absolutly stunned by Bach’s Tocatta and fugue in D minor.

Or to a outdoor eatery and introduce her to a Schnitzel sandwich.

Germany
One of the many small towns in Germany seen only from a passing train. Looked interesting. I wish I’d have explored it some.

Or riding the train into Nuremberg and watch the small communities slip by. Some looked enchanting. I would love to get off the train with my beautiful bride, maybe find a small Gasthaus and have a nice supper and enjoy the area. Maybe they have a local wine or beer we’d like.

To stand on that covered bridge near old town in Ansbach and watch the water flow past with someone I love. Or to go to one of the many bäckerei and enjoy something fresh from the oven.

Or to show her the barracks I lived in (appears to be apartments or office space now) and point to the window of my room.

That would be an experience.

Maybe, one day.
