The easiest way to really get the acid churning in your characters stomach is to put them in a position where they can do nothing except their very best. And that’s exactly what’s happened in Will Diaz’s little world. One sentence sums it all up.
“What in the hell is wrong with you,” I yelled at Max. “You punched RJ in the face. You busted his nose! Do you know what you’ve done? He’s a police officer in the performance of his duties. And that means you’re going to prison.”
In book one, Will bent over backwards to help his friend. Now he has a friend who assaulted another friend, and Will knows there’s nothing he can do. He’s burnt several favors with the courts just to help him out the first time. There will be no helping him this time.
What Will doesn’t know yet, and won’t for another novel or two, is that his good intentions paved the road to hell for a lot of people. His world is about the catch fire in a number of ways.
Stay tuned.
